În cursul zilei de ieri piaţa marilor găzduitori web a fost zguduită de un nou scandal. Bob Parson, proprietarul GoDaddy – una din cele mai mari firme de găzuire web din lume, a postat pe propriul site un clip extrem de controversat.
Clipul îl prezintă pe Parson împuşcând mortal un elefant, urmând ca mai apoi – după ce s-a fotografiat “triumfător” alături de “trofeu” – să ofere şepci cu logo-ul GoDaddy sutelor de băştinaşi veniţi să jupoaie şi să apuce la o bucată de carne din bietul animal.
Important: clipul de mai jos conţine scene de violenţă animală.
Parson declară:
What I did was, I helped these farmers defend their crops and fed a lot of people. […] They’re literally starving to death from not having food and this is their chance to eat.
Gestul a fost atacat extrem de dur de către PETA:
PETA is closing its account with Go Daddy and urges everyone to follow suit. […] Parsons is hiding behind the lame claim that killing elephants helps farmers in Africa whose crops are damaged by the animals. In fact, there are ample effective and nonlethal methods to deter elephants from crops, including using chili-infused string and beehives on poles to create low-cost “fences.” Instead of coming up with flimsy excuses for killing these highly intelligent and social animals, Parsons should use his wealth to fund humane solutions to human/elephant conflicts.
ABC News critică gestul “latifundiarului online”:
Reţelele sociale au fost invadate de mesajele sutelor de clienţi nemulţumiţi de acest gest, majoritatea declarând că în următoarele ore vor renunţa la serviciile GoDaddy. Firmele concurente nu s-au sfiit în a ataca şi ele acest gest, oferind cupoane de discount tuturor clienţilor care doresc să renunţe la serviciile GoDaddy.
